16日清晨，贵州省毕节市一处垃圾箱内，发现5名10岁左右男孩的遗体。初步查明，这些流浪孩子因为在垃圾箱内生火取暖而中毒身亡。

这个类似现代版“卖火柴小女孩”的故事，让无数人的心为之一凛。5个流浪儿的悲惨死亡，本不该发生。他们也有自己的父母亲人，怎么就沦落到蜷缩于垃圾箱里取暖的境地？去年末，曾有过一份给流浪儿的温暖的“红包”——民政部、公安部等八部委联合通知，开展“接送流浪孩子回家”专项行动，提出到2012年底，我国城市街面力争基本实现无流浪的未成年人。那么，毕节这5个“街面上”的流浪儿，怎么就没有进入有关部门的救助视线？

回过头来看，一段时间以来和孩子有关的负面新闻，不只这一件。比如，暑期成为儿童溺亡事故的“黑色高峰期”，受伤害的多为监护缺失的农民工子女；又据日前某高峰论坛披露，由于一刀切的“撤校并点”，近十年农村平均每一天就要消失63所小学、30个教学点……

受伤害的，不独是农村孩子，不独是失护、失教之痛。11月16日，在武汉国际会展中心的车展上，香车与性感美女循例招摇的同时，还出现了身着比基尼、摆出S形的儿童车模，事后照片未做任何处理，被网络疯狂猎奇转发，让家长觉得“想抽死自己的心都有”。

这些新闻事件的背后，是中国“初级阶段”的一个问题侧面：贫富差距与地区差距，客观存在的法律真空，“城挤、乡弱、村空”导致的农村凋敝，低俗商业文化四处渗透，而这种错综复杂的现实困境，正下移到最脆弱、最容易受伤的儿童身上，威胁着他们的身心健康。

一个社会的未来，必须由城乡孩子的人生幸福共同来奠定。亏欠了孩子，就是亏欠民族的未来与国家的前途，就是对这个国家的不负责任。

谁来撑起为孩子们遮风挡雨的保护伞？谁来为孩子们创造健康成长的空间？这既是对全社会的拷问，更是对政府部门的考验。尤其在一些伤害孩子的事情接踵发生的背景下，“尊重孩子、爱护孩子”理应成为一种刻不容缓的自觉与行动。

在这个意义上，聆听习近平总书记在中外记者见面会上的讲话，就愈加发人深省，“人民对美好生活的向往，就是我们的奋斗目标”，他还特地提到了“孩子”，“期盼孩子们能成长得更好、工作得更好、生活得更好”。面对习总书记这番话，想想那些辗转于街市的流浪儿，那些拥挤在破旧校车里的学童，我们是否会如坐针毡、如履寒冰？
